DYAD I: +RIVIVM

Graceland Cemetery in Chicago is a catalog architectural graveyard typologies. From ossuaries and columbariums to mausoleums and monuments, each type has meaning, history and a specificity of form reserved for the dead. Given this, the cemetery could be an unexpcted site of architectural speculation.

The synthesis of twin forms as detailed in The Book of Forms resulted in +rivium: a new cemetery type accommodating the living and the dead underneath a pavilion with a coffered and tufted ceiling. +rivium occupies an intersection near the southern border of the cemetery, becoming a new contemplative stop on the walking path. Its triangular area posits a latent "third twin", a triad of composite dyads, manifesting at a crossroads.
